"The earliest I can remember painting plein air with oils was about 50 years ago. My grandfather, a Canadian artist, used to set me up beside him and tell me to 'paint what you see'; the best instruction I ever got! The first time I walked into the Art Students’ League, I knew I had found my place! The smell of oil paint reminded me of painting with my grandfather." Leslie Allen is a Signature member of Women Artists of the West, and an Associate Member of Oil Painters of America. This award-winning plein air oil painter (2004 “Best in Show” Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters Miniature Show; 2002 “Best Impressionistic Painting” National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society) produces colourful, intimate landscapes infused with light, that translate feelings and impressions onto the canvas. Her Magpie piece “Waiting” was featured in 2003 September/October Wildlife Art Magazine. Her work is in collections across the US and Canada; South America and Germany.
