PAAC was founded on the idea of fostering camaraderie among plein air artists through regular paint outs. It's also a founding principal that these paint outs be open to everyone of every level and we encourage anyone who wants to come to our paint outs to drop in! Click here to go to the Calendar.

We also offer membership to PAAC for those that want to support our efforts and take advantage of special opportunities which include discounts from PAAC Partners.

PAAC sponsors an annual juried show for members. Details for the current year's show are posted on the home page when available.

Membership is renewed annually in January.

General Membership
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member. All members receive:

  • Your name on our member page and a link to your web site.
  • A 10% discount on frames from Front Range Frames.
  • A 10% discount from Abend Framing.
  • 15 percent off The Collapsible, a plein air painters umbrella.
  • A 10% discount from Judsons Plein Air Outfitters.
  • A 10% discount from Web Design by Sandra Neill Smith.
  • Group discounts on advertising for shows.
  • 50% discount on finished corner frames and a 10% discount on custom chop prefinished frames (mats, glass, etc.), art supplies, prints, posters, from Mike Simpson Art in Montrose, Colorado.
  • Free online Forum for members to discuss Paint Outs, trade Shop Talk, and connect with other PAAC Members!

Signature Membership

The founding members of PAAC have committed the group to strict standards to make PAAC Signature status of high value.

You are strongly encouraged to submit for Signature membership, if you have achieved a majority (5 of the 7) of the criteria listed below.

  1. You are an active plein air painter, defined as an artist that spends regular time painting from life outdoors.
  2. Gallery representation.
  3. Participation in three or more national juried art shows (your participation in PAAC shows counts towards this).
  4. Participation in one or more national invitational art shows in a gallery or museum.
  5. One person show in a gallery or museum.
  6. Signature status in a national art society, group, etc.
  7. Featured artist in a national art magazine.

Please mail your resume, or a link to one online, which shows you have achieved a majority (5 of the 7) of the above accomplishments with your membership information to:

Patron Membership
We recognize our patrons, those who want to support PAAC through a one time or annual contribution. You can become a Patron with a minimum contribution of $100.00 at the bronze level or contribute more to meet one of our elite levels.

  • Bronze: $100 - $249
  • Silver: $250 - $499
  • Gold: $500 - $999
  • Platinum: $1000+
