PAAC was founded on the idea of fostering camaraderie among plein air artists through regular paint outs. It's also a founding principal that these paint outs be open to everyone of every level and we encourage anyone who wants to come to our paint outs to drop in! Click here to go to the Calendar.

We also offer membership to PAAC for those that want to support our efforts and take advantage of special opportunities which include discounts from PAAC Partners.

Associate Membership
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member. All members receive:

PAAC only shares members' Names, Email Addresses, and Membership Numbers with our sponsors, so that our members may receive discounts. PAAC does not share any other member information. PAAC does not share member information with anyone other than our sponsors.

Signature Membership

The founding members of PAAC have committed the group to strict standards to make PAAC Signature status of high value.

You are strongly encouraged to submit for Signature membership, if you have achieved at least 5 of the 7 of the criteria listed below.

  1. You are an active plein air painter, defined as an artist that spends regular time painting from life outdoors. Your website should reflect this, preferably having a section for plein air paintings.
  2. Gallery representation.
    • This should be a dedicated art gallery, not a frame shop or artist's co-op.
    • Your application must include the Gallery web page address that shows you represented there.
  3. Participation in three or more national juried art shows.
    • Your participation in PAAC shows counts towards this.
    • Examples of National groups - Oil Painters of America, Pastel Society of America, American Women Artists, American Impressionist Society, etc.
    • Your application must include verification that you were accepted into the shows.
  4. Participation in one or more national invitational art shows in a gallery or museum.
    • Invitational should be included in the title of the show - e.g. Governor's Invitational.
    • The show is restricted to invited participants.
    • Your application must include at least one invitation letter personally addressed to you, show catalog, or other documentation listing you as one of the invited participants.
  5. One person show in a gallery or museum.
    • This should be a dedicated fine art gallery, not a frame shop, library, community center or artist's co-op.
    • Your application must include a press release or announcement about your show.
  6. Signature status in a national art society, group, etc.
    • Examples of National art groups - Oil Painters of America, Pastel Society of America, American Women Artists, American Impressionist Society, etc.
    • You must be listed on the website of the organization as a current Signature Member.
  7. Featured artist in a national art magazine.
    • The art magazine must be a paper copy not digital (unless magazine does both such as American Art Collector or Plein Air Magazine).
    • Regional magazines don't count, such as Vail Art.
    • This should be a magazine that is dedicated to Art, not other subjects.
    • Good examples are Southwest Art, Plein Air Magazine, Fine Art Connoisseur, etc.
    • Your application must include a copy of the article(s).

Please mail your resume, or a link to one online, which shows you have achieved at least 5 of the 7 requirements above with your membership information to the address below. Your application should include the verification indicated above that shows you meet the requirements. You can send hardcopies, scanned documents attached to an email, or links to websites that name you specifically.

We recognize our patrons, those who want to support PAAC through a one time or annual contribution.

  • Bronze: $249 or less
  • Silver: $250 - $499
  • Gold: $500 - $999
  • Platinum: $1000+
