Have you ever wanted to paint by moonlight? Here is your opportunity! Susiehyer will be conducting a four hour nocturne workshop as well as a two day workshop in Steamboat during the PAAC annual paintout, August 8-12, 2017.
The two day workshop will help you create stronger, more dynamic plein air paintings, August 10-11, 9am-4pm. $225 for PAAC members; $300 for non members. Limit of 12 people. (supply list will be included in the registration confirmation email). Save money - become a member!
NOTE: To register for both workshops, you must go through the registration process for each one.
The focus of the workshop is to learn to create a strong foundation around which to build your paintings, using two basic visual approaches. With Local Tone and Light and Shadow approaches, you will learn to paint en plein air without the frustration of chasing light and overdoing detail. As Susie is teaching visual approaches rather than medium, your preferred medium is fine; oil, pastel or gouache, but participants must already have some experience with plein air and using their setup.
We are lucky enough to have a full moon one day before arriving in Steamboat Springs, so the nocturne workshop will be held prior to the two day workshop, on Wednesday, August 9, from 6pm until around 10pm. $85 members only, up to 16 people. You will need a headlamp and book lights in addition to Susie’s standard supply list (included in registration confirmation letter). Painting at night is really fun and exciting and most students who have not experienced it will be totally hooked!
* Cancellation Policy: Full refund if you cancel by July 25th.
