The mountains keep us young. Doug pursued art through high school until the academic pursuits of college took priority. A fifth generation Wyomingite, Doug freely admits that he took to beauty of his native state for granted until he left to pursue military service and a medical career. Returning to the west in 1988 he has enjoyed the outdoors. Skiing, hiking, triathaloning, and mountaineering have gradually given way to Plein Air and studio landscape painting. Color, energy, introspection and emotion draw him to the landscape. A good painting calms and centers the viewer, simultaneously acting as a call to action.
