June 3 - CHICO BASIN RANCH, 22500 South Peyton Hwy.
This working ranch (Owned by the State Land Board) encompasses pristine shortgrass and sandsage prairie with 5 spring-fed lakes and wetlands, some historic buildings, and abundant animal and bird life. The ranch is locate 45-minutes southeast of Colorado Springs.
June 10 - PALMER PARK YUCCA FLATS, (no address) if you come from Paseo or Maizeland, turn off on the dirt road that says Lazy Land and Yucca Flats. Keep bearing left until you come to the deadend of the road. That is where you will park. There are no bathrooms.
June 17 - FOUNTAIN CREEK NATURE CENTER, 320 Pepper Grass Lane, Fountain, CO
Abundant bird life graces this wetland area. A short hike down the trail takes you to ponds, streams, meadows, and possible mountain views. Bathrooms are available in the Nature Center. We probably will have the opportunity to paint off of the back deck of the Nature Center as well.
June 24 - GLEN EYRIE, 3820 North 30th Street. Please let me know if you are planning on attending. They want an approximate head count. Bathrooms are available in the bookstore. Last time we saw wild turkeys and big horn sheep on the grounds.
Also, I was saddened (and shocked) to find out that Bill Curits passed away unexpectedly. He had been painting with us this year and shared his artwork on the PAAC Facebook page. I've included the link to his obituary.
