Meet in parking area just before campground, carpool up the road a few miles to some views, park along the creek.
9.6 miles NE of Pagosa on 160; turn right onto East Fork Rd. (easy to miss)
East Fork San Juan River, Ponderosa forest, camping by reservation or FCFS

Piedra River Trailhead

Follow Piedra Rd / CR 600 about 19 miles from downtown Pagosa; parking lot on left, trail runs south along the river. https://pagosatrails.org/portfolio/piedra-river-trail-no/
Scenic views, hiking if interested, river access, CG bathroom. Can be windy/sunny.

26.4 miles from downtown Pagosa; go north on Piedra/CR 600 (becomes 631); pass Bridge CG; turn right on 640, at Wms. Creek CG; Teal is next; park at Day use lot (fee $6.00/vehicle: Camping info: recreation.gov First come/first served)
Inexpensive Forest Svc. camping (first come, first served), restrooms, picnic tables, water

From Hwy. 160, drive north on Piedra (CR 600), turn left onto Mission, then right onto North Pagosa Blvd., to parking lot on left, total 3.7 miles.
No restroom available; some steps and rocky sections; parking, shade
Short walk on the trail to a streambed, small meadows, and wonderfully scented Ponderosa pines.
