This week’s paint out will be at Lisa Fairbanks’ garden at Rogers Mesa. Lisa’s garden is overflowing with flowers and vegetables and she has lovely views of the west elks. She has a very shady back garden to make a lovely painting spot. Thanks Lisa for opening your home to us!

Holly has a lovely flower garden near Paonia that she supplies flowers for events and weddings mostly in Crested Butte. She cuts less flowers late in fall so there will be plenty of flowers for us to paint as well as  views from Lamborn Mesa.

Holly will have some bouquet’s for purchase, but let me know in advance if you’d like some flowers so she has some available for us. She has small bouquets for $16 and larger bouquets for $35 or $64.

Other Artist Events & Opportunities

• I’ll be teaching  the last of my plein air classes at Redstone General Store for the year on September 8th from 9am-1pm. The online booking portal isn’t working, so let me know if you’d like to come and I’ll add you to the count. We get a very special lunch at the Redstone General Store after the class including homemade ice cream!. It’s been really fun teaching there this summer.

• Anita Winter has a watercolor class at Paonia Books on September 9th.  Learn no-fail watercolor techniques. Create floral greeting cards with your new skills. Step by step instruction. Bring your own supplies or purchase supplies at Paonia Books prior to first class. 

• Mountain Harvest Festival in Paonia is September 22nd - 24th. https://mountainharvestfestival.org

• Anita Winter has a solo exhibition  at the Grand Mesa Arts and Events center in Cedaredge September 25th - November 5th. Opening reception is Sept 29th

• Cedar Keshet is teaching a field journaling class in Watercolor, Pencil and Pen at Paonia Books on September 30. Learn some basic techniques that will help you record what you see, hear and feel on your next hike in the mountains, relaxing time at the park or your backyard.

• October 1-6th is the Monuments and Canyons plein air event. Anita Winter, Nancy Lewis and I will be participating this year. The opening reception will be Friday October 6th 5pm-8pm at Carlson Vineyards Tasting Room in downtown Grand Junction.

• Plein Air Artist of Colorado (PAAC) annual national exhibition will be in Taos this year at the The Blumenschein Museum. The exhibition will be from October 2nd - November 5th. Congratulations to the artists who were juried into the show:

For 2024 plein air events, I’m planning to put together a google document with a link so that we can all add plein air events and entry deadlines in the one place.

Let me know if you have any favorite painting spots for fall. The cottonwoods around Ridgway are definitely on the list!
