Biography
Kim Barrick, painter, writer and seeker is as diverse and complex as the work she creates. The artist deflects labels, challenges authority, and ponders Life with wonder. Barrick describes her artwork as “expressive impressionism”, "alive with light and filled with movement," words that could be applied to their creator as well. Her published words inspire curiosity and encourage pragmatic participation by all life enthusiasts.

Her accolades include early recognition as a “Top Talent” by Santa Fean Magazine, numerous award winning artworks, and inclusion in numerous juried exhibits and solo shows. She is a sought after instructor of landscape and still life painting, and a noted wildlife artist. Her large corporate commissions are hung in outstanding structures in Tennessee.

A native of Colorado and resident of Tennessee, Barrick claims dual citizenship maintaining homes in both states. Her work is represented by galleries in both the South and West with numerous artworks held in private and corporate collections throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.

In 2001, Barrick founded The Chestnut Group, plein air painters for the land, www.chestnutgroup.org nationally recognized as the premier plein air/conservation art organization in the U.S. In addition, Barrick was instrumental in establishing Wild About Colorado supporting The Continental Divide Land Trust (Colorado Open Lands). She has served the land she loves on the Friends of Radnor Lake Board of Directors, supports emerging artists as a mentor and former board member of the Arts and Business Council of Greater Nashville and is the current Chair of the Chestnut Group Advisory Board.
