Biography
Through my paintings, I strive to help people to see – as I see and experience – the beauty around us. “En plein air” in French means to paint in the open air. This approach to landscape painting allows artists to observe deeply not only the incredible hues, highlights, shadows and shapes of the world around us, but it also allows me to recall the sounds, feelings and interactions I experienced with nature. I hope people will have those same emotional responses from my paintings.
Early in my life, I was influenced by the soft light, warm colors and aromas of my family-owned bakery in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I always had a passion for deep observation, whether it was in the rich environment of our bakery or outdoors in our bustling neighborhood.
I became a professional graphic designer after I earned a degree in commercial art at Milwaukee Area Technical College. I studied fine art with a focus on oil painting at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and Colorado University – Denver. I earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The Women’s College of the University of Denver.
