Biography
I began painting on location as a teenager with my mother (a watercolor artist) before I knew it was called "plein air." After high school, I studied and graduated with a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute. I worked for 18 years in graphic design, eight of those years, I ran a free-lance graphic design business. I made a career change and taught art in the public schools for 16 years.
Since retiring, I've spent time painting and studying with Richard Dahlquist, Christ Alvarez, and Thomas Blackshear. Historically, I'm inspired by the Impressionists. I want to interpret what I see before me, creating a mood and capturing the lighting.
