Biography
I've grown up in the Colorado mountains, and they've become a part of my heart and soul. As a native, I love to paint plein air and the effects of light. Painting outside gives me a chance to slow down and soak in what is before me. I paint realistically but in a loose, impressionistic style. I'm inspired by the impressionists.
After graduating from Kansas City Art Institute with a BFA, I worked for 18 years in graphic design. Eight of those years, I ran a free-lance graphic design business. After a career change, I taught art in the public schools (K-5) for 16 years. Since retiring in 2019, I've focused on art making and painting, studying with Richard Dahlquist and Chris Alvarez. I have been featured artist through the Pikes Peak Library, and in 2022, I had a one-woman show at the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center.
I coordinate the painting schedule for the Plein Air Artists of Colorado for the Colorado Springs group which gives me the opportunity to share plein air with others.
