Biography
Prior to retirement, my background and education was Interior Architecture and Design. Over half of my life was spent in the San Francisco Bay Area being raised in Oakland and raising my family in Orinda, east of Berkeley. In 1991 I returned to school to acquire my second BA while attending California College of The Arts, formerly California College of Arts and Crafts (CCAC). Since coming to Ridgway in 2005, my husband John and I have been filled with blessings; living here and pursuing our love of travel throughout the world. This unparalleled place in the San Juan Mountains, and our travels, have inspired me with many rich experiences with people and scenic beauty.
Since 2018 I have studied, intermittently, under Impressionist Oil Painter Phil Starke. He is an accomplished artist and a generous and gentle teacher who emphasizes the fundamentals of painting. It is a rich and frustrating journey as I grow to master the art of painting. I have felt called to paint and to represent the beauty of God’s natural creations. Practicing Plein Air painting is essential. My goals are to emphasize the light, simplify the subject, and see and design as an artist.
