Introducing the Inaugural Boulder Plein Air Festival!
Open Studios, a Boulder-based arts nonprofit, is excited to announce the 2017 Boulder Plein Air Festival, June 11th-18th.
The festival has been created with the objective of showcasing the amazing talent of regional plein air artists and the beauty that surrounds the county of Boulder, Colorado. Enjoy incredible vistas, sprawling plains views, rocky mountain scenes, quaint ponds tucked between the foothills and farms, several scenic and historic downtown areas, and wildlife galore! Boulder is a great place to create your next masterpiece and find new collectors of your work.
As an alternative to the organizers retaining a large portion of sales from an event like this (typically 50%), we have decided to ask participating artists to pay a small participation fee ($200) and return 85% of any sale during the festival directly back to the artists. Open Studios is an organization with a primary goal of promoting artists and helping them earn a living wage, so we wanted to make this a benefit to all participating artists and we hope that returning the majority of the sales generated from the event will accomplish that. In addition to a larger portion of sales going back to the artists, we have award money in several categories, including Best in Show, Best Landscape, Best Cityscape, Best Non-traditional Plein Air piece, and more!
We invite you to apply to the Boulder Plein Air Festival via CaFE online HERE: https://www.callforentry.org/festivals_unique_info.php?ID=4162
We are happy to connect any out-of-town artists with local accommodations, including hotel options, VRBOs and home stays. If you are looking for accommodations during the fest, please contact us.
